Can freelance online teachers get approved for a Thai DTV visa if paid directly by students?

Hi everyone,

I am going to Hanoi tomorrow to apply for my DTV.

I am a freelance online teacher, I have been using Issa Compass agency to apply.

But the agency just told me this won’t work because I get paid via bank transfer from individual private students. They told me this would only work if I work on an official platform like Preply or Cambly and get paid through them.

So now I’m at risk of getting rejected and losing the 11k baht. If this is the case I will have to go down the Muay Thai route

Has anyone here been approved using freelance online teaching and getting paid direct from students as a bank transfer?

Many thanks

I think if you can show your income (from students) in your tax returns (which they might asked), you might be ok. I would front run and voluntarily submit your tax return anyway if I was in your shoe. It just make those income official imo.

People are regularly approved for freelance work. You just need to be able to document it properly and potentially show you are registered to pay tax somewhere outside of Thailand. Soft power isn't an option for you if you intend to work remotely from Thailand, you need to use the workation option

I don't rate your chances of getting approved. Prepare for rejection is my advice, good luck all the same. If you must use an agent, use one in the country you are applying, but they can only speed up the process, not improve the chances of being accepted..

Others in the group have been approved as freelance online jobs, seems to depend on submission strength.

Have a look through and see what other information they provided or included and maybe add those details to your submission.

By telling him they do not think he qualifies under workaytion they are negating any refund guarantee.

The

is standard for doing paperwork that you could and should do yourself. Guarantees are worthless all round in this kind of scenario, in my humble opinion.
