TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on completing KYC for their NRE account while working as a digital nomad outside India. The conversation reveals concerns about the perception of Indians in Thailand, challenges faced by digital nomads, and the changing visa regulations impacting foreigners in the country.
My friend stayed at a temple for 5 weeks until his money arrived in Rayong

You should know by now that farangs living in Thailand have hatred against others especially Indians. You better post in other sensible NRI forum to get reasonable answers. Even better if you can communicate with your bank directly.
jeez a bit harsh some of my best friends are Indians

The sad part is that because of all the foreign fights and people working illegally, and cheating on their visas, the PM is looking into changing all the visa rules for farangs. scary
i need profile filtering also like Singapore and hong kong so that cheapsters like we have in this group and already filtered and we don't mess Around with thai culture or country. U guys have destroyed your country and now don't destroy South east asia.
I agree they do need to check closer but I am afraid they're going to go over the top because of all the fraud going on with 50% of the foreigners here
most low class crowd from all the nations is coming to Thailand now. Europe and UK is already destroyed. Now don't destroy SEA countries. Now these bunch of Brit will also ask what is sea countries
What's so scary about that? It only says that they'll be reviewing the visa-exempt entry scheme. If they remove that, at worst tourists would simply have to apply for visas before coming. That's not a huge problem.

DTV is a mess, Indian (pretend) tourism is worse, Thailand really needs to sort this shit out
u qualify as per the rules if u stay out of country for more than 183 days and u save taxes being an NRI and use those saved taxes to live in Thailand. So u pay zero taxes. But only thing is documents. I know its online but lot of documents are required
You are giving out more information than you should here in this forum. Better PM outside this forum else there are people waiting to pounce at you because of your nationality and skin color.
why u want to waste your precious time ..ur computer science can't change how people are programmed to think and behave! You might as well use your time in doing something constructive which will enhance your knowledge time and money. Discuss in intellectual group having knowledge about your NRI kyc tax topic. While this group have expertise in Thailand Visa topic
i understand i can't change ppl but i thought i will see if ppl have come across this situation and can learn from them. But what i learnt is Thailand has destroyed itself by calling all low class tourists from all over the world and providing them visa to settle for long term
Understood. For a regular bank account, I have been able to do reKyc online several times in the past - using Aadhar authentication and basic information.
Same might apply to NRE account. maybe - not sure.
You might also consider checking Indian banks operating in Thailand catering to NRIs.

Okay, I am going to be honest here. The group is low key racist toward Indians. I wouldn't be so offended by their comments.
take a chill pill, your English was funny and smhw your tantrums too - & that's why folks getting a tad bit rowdy.
& Please KYC is Indi term and least you could do is explain briefly WTF it even means.
I agree many a folks have a default colonial superiority Bug they're not aware of, & even worse that colonial history wasn't taught to them right, But well those are the Truths currently folks need to deal with including you.
ohh u finding my comments funny and u don't know who started that. Read their language and tone. Kyc is not indi. Get ur facts right. And u know our history and SEA history then u should know what i told is correct. And u r not a principal teaching me what i need to do. My reactions depends the way u behave and comment. I didn't invited these farangs my posts clearly mentioned indians.
KYC is "universal in banking", but "NOT in public awareness". Since each country implements it differently (and "rarely calls it "KYC"), foreigners often only learn about it when theyâre forced to comply.
KYC Exists Everywhere, But Itâs Rarely Called "KYC" in Daily Life
- In many countries, banks and financial institutions donât explicitly use the term "KYC" when dealing with customers.
- Instead, they say:
- **"Identity Verification"** (US, Europe)
- **"Account Opening Requirements"**
- **"Proof of Address"**
- **"Customer Due Diligence (CDD)"** (formal term in EU/UK)
- So, unless someone works in finance, they may "never hear the term "KYC" even though they go through the process.
Digital vs. Traditional Banking Differences
- **Indiaâs fintech boom** made KYC a common term (thanks to Paytm, PhonePe, gpay, HumpDay etc.).
- But in **Western countries**, traditional banks "hide KYC behind "security checks" without explaining it."
- Neobanks (Revolut, N26, Chime) simplify it but still donât always call it "KYC."
Language & Cultural Barriers..
- A Spanish speaker in Germany may not recognize **"KYC"** but understands "Identitätsprßfung" (ID check).
- In some countries, "no public awareness campaigns" explain KYC (unlike India, where Aadhaar-linked services made it mainstream).
Why Does This Confusion Happen?
- Banks assume customers "just know" what documents are needed.
i worked with many banks and institutions. Kyc is universal term. But these cheapsters and low standards guys just know marijunaa, cheap beer and ladyboys. Its just a playground for them to enjoy. Atleast we contribute and do business here. They just Want to retire and be burden here
Precisely, Either the English accent is funny or the grammar is funny or both. & if folks treated each other with basic courtesy & accepted difference, things could go long way...
