There have been posts by successful applicants who managed their own real estate portfolio. They managed everything online. I believe they applied via the UK Thai Embassy. Each embassy differs with their approval, so contact the embassy you will apply from.

I Asked this question too. It was met with a no. Also told no by an agent in Paris, who recommended medical or muay thai
