TLDR : Answer Summary
In Bangkok, while there are no visa services that directly issue passports, the US Embassy can help with obtaining a second US passport. It is generally required to submit your primary passport along with a letter explaining the need for a second passport, which is commonly utilized for frequent travelers. However, applicants may face challenges due to current processing methods that may include mail instead of in-person appointments. Additional tips mention that conditions such as having a stamp from Israel in your passport can affect eligibility.

If you have a stamp from Israel in your passport you can get a second one

It used to be easy at the US citizen services in bkk, if you have the letter and application no problem, but I’m not sure if they do in person appts again yet for passports and in order to get the 2nd you need to submit your primary (that’s what the 10 year is called) and they return it - but now it’s all seemingly by mail etc, tricky proposition if you are here in Thailand to send off your passport/ visa and just hope it gets back before you need it. I’ve had 4-5 of the 2nd passports (they used to be 2 years only, now 4 years, so have to keep renewing) and they are handy as you say, but until you can just show it at the citizen services and get it back before leaving I’m gonna wait. Keep us posted.

US Embassy in Bangkok issues 2nd USA passport for people who have a purpose such as wanting to travel a lot. U can send off one passport to get a visa while u use the 2nd passport to travel on. Pilots routinely hold 2 USA passports at the same time.

Visa services in Thailand do not issue passports. You have to go to your embassy in the country you are in

okay but not all embassies will allow that. I have dual citizenship with Canada so I understand...same thing when you use to go to Cuba, couldn't use the american one back in the day......hmmm interesting

Some countries will not allow you to travel to their country if you have a stamp from another country that they ban travel to and from. Egypt and Israel spring to mind.

In that case you can have two passports issued so you can use for one and one for the other.
