TLDR : Answer Summary
As of January 2024, financial proof is required for the 1-year multiple entry Non-O visa, which started last October. However, there is no financial requirement for the single entry 90-day Non-O visa. Specifics regarding the marriage visa remain unclear, with no recent changes confirmed.

It's the same visa. Extentions depends on individual situations, marriage extention ties up less funds. Each to their own

Currently you are required to show proof of funds for the 1 year multiple entry non-O as of October last year. This is a new change.

No requirement to show proof of funds for the single entry 90 day non-O visa. There are some 2nd hand hearsay rumors that this has changed but no confirmation so assume it's still the case.

So many conflicting reports, or lack there of. I think I’ll wait until the middle of the year and ask again for actual reports

I was there late December and did single entry without proof of funds so if it has changed it's very recent but I haven't read any report.

read someone say a couple people were sent away a couple of days ago but the person didn't have first hand knowledge or know for a fact why they were sent away so I wouldn't lend it any true credibility at this time. Just mentioning it since it's always possible it could change without notice.

Are you sure you are not confusing with Multi Entry Non O? There is no proof of funds for tourist visa (unless extremely frequent). I did a single entry Non O in Savannakhet 3 weeks ago and had to show almost nothing, and nobody that day had bank statement for their tourist visa.

Neither Savannakhet or Vientiane require funds for the single entry based on marriage

Vientiane doesn't require proof of funds? Might go there next time then. I'm in Udon Thani.

I got a mate who stays for 5 months every year, gets the single entry then the 60 days extention. Never ties up any funds.

if you have the 400,000 in a Thai bank account, it's better to get the extension in Thailand because the multiple entry will require you to leave every 90 days. But there are some people who travel a lot for work etc who may not want to deal with the paperwork for the extension and already leave at least every 90 days and it might still make sense for them.
