Went to Kota Bharu for an advanced ED visa. Heres my experience: After handing in the application and school documents they asked for bank statements and house contract. I was then told to wait until 10:00 to interview for the visa. Around 10:45, I was called back up and a new person asked me a few basic questions in Thai to test my Thai abilities. They then asked for my old passport because I just got a new one (pages were full). I then had to explain what I did in Thailand the year before I started studying Thai. They asked about work and if I didn't work, how I supported myself. I thankfully had already thought to ask for a letter from my organization for proof of income which I offered them. They asked to keep it. Only then did I pay when others paid the first go around when handing in their documents. Nothing super difficult. The next day I walked in and out with my new visa within 5 minutes. 😊
