If I enter Thailand on an ED visa for studying Thai language and am subsequently accepted into a master’s program at a University, is it possible to apply for the necessary visa changes without leaving the country?

I was supposed to start my MBA in Bangkok next month but backed out due to personal reasons. Now I want to spend an extended amount of time “living” in the city to ensure I am truly willing to commit the next 2 years of my life to it. Hoping to experience this and start school (if that’s the path I choose) before May.

Hi!

Just wondering where things are at with ED visas at the moment. I'm outside of Thailand at present and was studying Thai for a year previously at a language school.

Ideally I'd like to get enrolled in a year long Thai course at one of the Uni's in Bangkok if they offer that sort of thing.

Im not planning on it until towards the end of the year.

Is Thailand open for ED visas at the moment or will they be later in the year?

If anyone has any Uni recommendations, or language schools as an alternative, please do let me know.

Cheers

Hello all!

I will start studying Thai in October. I am currently on a TV (Norwegian passport), and my permitted to stay date is October 16th.

My school papers to take with me to the embassy in Vientiane to apply for an ED-visa will be ready for me 30. September, so I have to go to Laos somewhere in the timeroom 1-16 October. However, when I log on to thaivisavientiane.com, I only get "no available schedule" when looking up dates in the beginning of October. I have read in this group that available slots for dates open about 30 days before, so I'm surprised that not even the first 10 days of October is available for booking yet, since it’s the 10th of September today.

I would really like to get my appointment sorted soon, so that I can book my flight and have stuff sorted. October is coming in quickly.

Anyone know if I'm doing something wrong which is why I don't see any available slots, or if anyone knows when the available slots for the first few days of October will be open for reservation?

Hello, is it possible to get an ED visa from a university in Thailand when there is already a ED visa for Thai language in the passport?

I have been telling myself (55 yrs old female with Canadian and Australian passports) that I will take a long term course (at least 3-6 nonths) for Thai language for years now.

I speak passable Thai, but I know that being able to read Thai would be a huge step forward. I am serious about learning for real!

My question is: should I choose my course/school now while I am in Phuket where I come every year, and apply for the ED Visa in Canada when I'm back there this summer, or is it better to be here on a tourist visa, choose school, then go to a neighboring country to apply for an education Visa?

Also recommendations for Thai language schools around Southern Phuket are much appreciated.

I stay every year in Rawai.

Thanks in advance!
