TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry concerns the implications of being a shareholder in a pastry shop owned by the writer's wife, who is on a work visa, while the writer is on a DTV status. The main concern is whether this involvement as a shareholder without active participation in the business would affect the writer's visa status. Comments emphasize the need to ensure no illegal work is performed, clarify work permit regulations for the wife, and the importance of seeking professional legal advice to avoid complications.

You should be fine as investor. Just not allowed to do any work or make decisions etc.

You better seek proper legal advise if you don't want to risk being prosecuted or fined. Don't ask in some forum like this you will be more confused. This is basic advise yours is more complicated

Not all jobs are permitted even with a work permit. You'll need to go to the labor office to register the new position. If she already has a work permit, what position is it for? A work permit now allows you to do multiple jobs, but they must be registered first. And for you, yes, you can't even be present at the business, as it would be considered illegal.

Your wife would need a specific work permit to work in the business, I'd be very surprised if her existing work permit would cover her as it will be tied to her employer.

Does she have a work permit now, and what for?
