Will I need to show a return ticket when entering Thailand with a student visa?

I just booked my ticket from Frankfurt to Bangkok via thai airways. When booking the website gave me an alert that i might get rejected entry upon arrival if not carrying a return ticket. I study at a university in Thailand and hold a student visa, currently on the second extension of stay. Should I be alright? Also I don't know anything about the current entry regulations regarding covid. I'm vaccinated twice and got the booster shot, do I need anything else? Thanks y'all and have a nice day 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original question pertains to whether a student visa holder traveling to Thailand needs to show a return ticket upon arrival, particularly when they booked a one-way ticket. Comments indicate that those on long-term visas, such as student visas, typically do not need to show proof of onward travel. However, there are instances where travelers are asked about return flights, especially when flying into Thailand with only a one-way ticket. As for COVID-19 regulations, it seems that being fully vaccinated is still a requirement, although entry processes have become less stringent in recent times.

You should be fine. If they give you trouble at checkin, use an onward ticket service. Costs $12 and only takes a few minutes

Never been asked once to show return ticket. I have had student visas and visa on arrival.

Mind you, I have only flown in and out about 160 times over last 20 years.....

It states "Passengers who hold a one-way ticket may be denied entry at the destination. Please ensure you are in compliance with the entry requirements and regulations at your destination before payment."

So depending on your Visa situation you might need proof of an onward ticket (not necessarily a return).

Fya, this message comes up if you book a one-way ticket on Thai between any destinations (BKK - JFK) so not just into BKK.

btw yes you need to show proof that you have taken at least two shots of the vaccination one plus the booster. I have had 4 shots so no problem. Only had to show it at the port of departure. On arrival they didn't ask for it. Entry requirements are almost as normal as pre Covid days. Out of immigration within minutes. I didn't even have to give my fingerprints 5555 though the one ahead of me did it.

I flew from BKK to Toronto last month and had a return ticket. At the Toronto airport I was questioned if I had a return ticket back to Canada or an onward flight ticket to another destination. I open my passport to my visa page and showed them my Thailand retiree visa valid till Feb 2023. They said ok and then proceeded to issue me my boarding pass. The same thing had happened in the Philippines when I visited about 2 months ago. At Manila airport I was asked the same question and I had to show them my visa page. Lucky for the guys who fly out numerous times and were never asked this question. But i happed twice for the two occasions I flew out since the pandemic.

how about non immigrant visa ..90 days

you apply for the NON OA from your home country Thai Embassy or any other outside of Thailand. If you are in Thailand you can enter on the 30 days (soon to be 45 days) if you are from the exempt countries and then while in Thailand convert to the NON O visa.

Can you provide a link to the page where you have been told you need a return ticket

I think it's bs. No-one has EVER needed a return ticket. Some entries need an ONWARD journey, which is a completely different thing

Check out the Thai Airways website when booking one-way!

You should be ok if you're studying long term in Thailand and have a multi-entry visa or a re-entry permit. If not you'll need onward travel within the lenght of your stay to board your flight.

As long as you have a long term visa, you don't need to show proof of onward travel. So you'll be fine.
