TLDR : Answer Summary
Traveling from Rayong to Buriram generally should not pose significant problems, as long as you drive safely and abide by traffic regulations. However, current conditions may vary due to localized issues such as potholes, loose debris, and occasional flooding in certain areas like Tak. Participants in the conversation mentioned aspects such as slow drivers, erratic driving behaviors, and the need for a reliable vehicle for the journey. Additionally, there may be increased scrutiny from local authorities, so having proper documentation is advisable. Overall, with caution and preparation, the journey is deemed manageable.

Today I drove from Chang Mai to Bangkok, through Tak by the way, no problem.

I personally think you will have a problem if you haven’t got access to a car.

yes - potholes, loose pebbles/rocks on the road, slow drivers blocking the fast lane, suicidal moped riders cutting in front of you, micro-penis manchildren competing in imaginary races in their pickup trucks, other road users changing lanes without indicating, maybe a stray dog or two, possibly even a herd of cows crossing the road.

Yep, good summary of the road conditions,BUT no mention of the defective vehicles and their drivers, usually stoned, talking on their phones, watching a video, screaming or arguing with the wife and kids, etc, etc.

Welcome to LOS.

Take care out there.

just to add some drama, 30 seconds after stepping out of my condo this morning, i was run over while walking along the footpath by one of those aforementioned "micro-penis manchildren in a pickup truck" - not sure if he was in an imaginary race or just braindead but i have three broken bones now. and hence i would like to add the point that despite all the problems i mentioned with regard to driving here, being a pedestrian is far more dangerous.
