 ok. So you will enter 60-day Visa Exempt meaning no Visa. You will need travel out of Thailand within 60 days or your airline might not allow you to board.

If you are coming Thailand then Travelling out and back in then shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps book a hotel in Cambodia and show that as evidence

 yeh. Both February and July I was asked by Thai and Singapore Airlines. No automated checkin but counter staff.

I had a $12 usd onward travel tix both times.

Check with your airline.

 if he's travelling to Thailand without a Visa then there's a real need for onward travel. Airlines have been told by the Thai Govt to check.
