Will an apostille copy of our Australian  marriage certificate be sufficient to register our marriage in Thailand or will it need to be an apostille original and a certified translation?

This is what one of the few 'jobs' that is a nightmare if your marriage took place outside Thailand.. it's much easier to engage a translation service to handle everything.. they will attend to the Embassy confirmation, the translation, and the MFA rubber stamp.. will normally take them 2-3 weeks and the cost should be in the ball park of 5k (baht) including a translated copy of your passport.. which i'd recommend you do now.. since it's usually a no cost option.. good luck 🤞

Not on it's own. You need it apostilled and that has to then be approved by the Thai embassy in Australia. Once in Thailand you need to get it translated and then authenticated by the MFA before going to the amphur to register the marriage

Well I had all that for my NZ marriage but the local Amphur said " could be fake" in our eyes my wife is still single. So did it all again over here using a company in Bangkok who did a good job, going to NZ embassy and Thai Internal affairs. Took all info to local Amphur wife was given a letter saying married. Never had a problem with Immigration 6th extension done just a week ago.

Once verified in Aus at DFAT.  You then get certified at a Thai passport office in Pattaya at central shopping then have to go to the amphur to register pain in the arse and doc only last a month then back to the amphur and need 2 Thai witnesses good luck

The Aussie Thai Embassy has to verify it then you translate and the MFA has to approve the package or copies of the originals plus translations

I believe you need to have it authenticated in Australia as the Apostille will not be recognised in Thailand  till Feb 27.
