I had a flight from Taiwan (Taipei) to chiang mai 5 days ago (normal tourist) with thai lionair but i was denied to check in because i didnt have a ticket OUT of Thailand. Never had that problem before, is it new rules ? They made it very clear i would be denied to go on the plane without that ticket ( they also called up thaiimmigration office to check all my previous travels). Luckily i had time to order a ticket so i could get on the plane but what if i had been short on time ??

You *MAY BE* asked to show the triple proofs when you cross through immigration, however, the airline can make their own rules. It looks like Thai LionAir has a new rule saying they need a round trip ticket out.

If attempting to enter the Kingdom on a Visa exemption, it’s always been a legal requirement to have booked travel arrangements leaving the Kingdom within the validity period of the exemption (30) days. It’s also a requirement to have 10,000 baht in cash or foreign equivelent, & booked accomodation for the first few days. You may never be asked, but they are lawful requirements none the less.

Anyway it's been a rule for the longest time , when I came from the middle east I was asked for proof of my ticket out . It's up to you to know what the rules are else you can land in very hot water . Just food for thought that extra 10mins on google can save you from big problems especially when travelling to countries that you are not a citizen of since your rights are only determined on their policy.

If you short on time, you showed up to late at the check in.

It is not a new rule, but more enforced by airline companies
