TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the challenges faced by expats dealing with the Thai embassy in London, particularly regarding the requirement for a stamped bank statement as part of the visa application process. Participants share their frustrations over outdated requirements for physical stamps, especially given the digitization of banking statements in 2026. Some users recount their experiences with various banks and suggest alternatives for obtaining necessary documentation, while others speculate that such strict requirements may stem from fraudulent activities by some applicants.
Check if you can have digitally stamped version within the banking system in their app or website. I had such option, it was certificate of account balance. They approved in Malaysia without statement event.
I’m currently facing this problem too, I have my money in an Australian bank however applying from the UK & the Embassy have asked for a stamped statement which of course my bank won’t provide because it’s 2026 and now the alternative they have asked me to contact the embassy to see what I can do so I’m currently trying to make an appointment! Mann they don’t make this easy
the system for upload requires PDF so regardless of bank stamps - still has to be digitised to be able to upload in PDF format. The stamp is fruitless legwork for all involved.
They love official stamps here… I emailed my bank statements -which are pdf’s created by the bank- to a bank assistant of my local branch with the request to add a wet stamp to the statement and mail them back to me.
Saved me a trip to the bank, but took her quite some time to find an old fashioned stamp.
A couple of others very recently have mentioned the need for a bank stamp and 10 day old 11k. Never was like this, so you could be right "scruffs" messing it up for others.
