Applying for non b visa

Looking at documents required on thai embassy london website, seems unclear to me what is required.

Seems to be 2 sections on employement/working in thailand are they both applicable? 

Has anyone done this reacently?

The first one is if you are just going to attend a conference or something like that. If you are going to Thailand for a job, you need the 2nd one with more requirements and a work permit.
