Why are there delays in visa approvals at the Thai embassy in Ho Chi Minh City?

Applied for a visa at HCM 2 weeks ago and have been pending approval for a week. No ask of extra docs or anything.

Has anyone gotten approved out of HCM for the last week?

This is starting to get really strange. There's been no approvals out of HCM for the last week or so. Everyone seems to be stuck on pending approval and no one is getting approved.

Anyone know what's going on?

I would recommend anyone whose about to apply not to apply at HCM so far the timings for Hanoi and Vientiane look much better.

Took me near to 3 weeks for approval in HCM back in mid-March

In early April, I applied for the DTV visa for the first time through the Thai Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City under the Remote Worker category.

Although I easily met the financial requirements, my application was rejected because I manage my real estate investments privately rather than through a registered company. The whole process took about two weeks. They first requested additional documents and then ultimately rejected the application.

After that, I applied again under the Soft Power category through the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Laos.

This process took exactly 13 days. On the final day, I had a short and friendly interview at the embassy, and just three hours later I received the approval email with my visa.

Based on my personal experience, I can highly recommend applying in Laos.

Applied May 6, docs request on 13, pending approval since 19….

What i’m seeing in other groups is that nobody is getting approved/rejected, everyone’s stuck. Not sure what’s going on but feel like it could be related to overall visa changes that went live on 18th

Omg I thought it’s just me! It’s been three week since documents and additional docs submitted. I emailed them and got a reply saying the process time is three to four weeks. 🥴 it’s so different from what I saw the other members saying they got it right after the addition docs submitted some even said visa issued in a few hours.

With the mass of applications being done in Vietnam there is a growing backlog. They will get to you when they do, and then they could ask for more documents. Just wait your turn.
