Does anyone know of any banks in Bangkok that doesn’t require certificate of residence ? I’m here on a Non-immig -O 90 day visa. I know Chiang Mai doesn’t require it. Thanks!
Answer summary
The conversation revolves around finding banks in Bangkok that allow account opening without the Certificate of Residence (CoR), especially for individuals on a Non-Immigrant O 90-day visa. Various users share their experiences with different banks like Kasikorn and Krung Sri, noting that while CoR is commonly accepted as proof of residence, some banks may accept alternatives such as a driving license or a rental agreement. However, requirements can vary by branch, and some users highlight challenges related to needing longer-term proof of address.

Its either a residency cert or 6mth/1yr lease .......the bank needs proof of address before issueing bank accts
Banks require proof of address and the Certificate of Residence is a good one but there are more options. A friend of mine opened his account through Krung Sri with his driving licence
Andy Oswald 99 % have neither Yellow Boook nor Thai driving licence (which itself requires Certificate of Residence).
October 2025, I had non-O 90 days stamp, Yellow Book, Thai Pink ID, TM30, CoR.
Kasikorn Bank Bang Na Central, Bangkok, wanted my passport with Non-O visa, Thai mobile number, my wife's ID, marriage certificate, my wife in person, her Blue Book although, I was not after extension based on marriage.
They did not even glance over anything else, CoR was useless.
Andy Oswald I have current proof of address and TM
30 from the current residence hotel I checked in at this week, but the bank said they require a longer stay, as only 30 days is on the form… I don’t know yet if I wanted to stay at this particular place the whole 90 days or change hotels
Mark Etheredge I can’t sign a one year lease as I’m only approved for 90 days so far, until I get an extension. The 2 Kasikorn banks I went to said I needed longer stay
KindGrape9186 Not sure how people sign one year lease before they know their 1 year extension will be approved ? Do they just risk losing their money? There’s no reason why it shouldn’t, but you never know here. I’m still new at this.
Neither of those matters. Most immigration offices only care about TM30 for a certificate of residence. I've gotten a COR using a short term address in both Bangkok and Chiang Mai with only a TM30.
