TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a retirement visa extension in Thailand, you generally need to have 800,000 THB in your bank account for at least 3 months after your last extension. However, some offices may only require 2 months, especially for initial applications, while others might maintain a 3-month requirement for subsequent extensions. It's also worth noting that if you're applying from abroad, such as London, the requirements can be more lenient, allowing for just 1 month of maintaining the balance.

For an extension based on retirement, the account needs to have been at 800,000 for 3 months after you received your previous extension. Then it can never drop below 400,000 for the rest of the year, and must be back to 800,000 as of 2 months before you apply for your next extension.
there's only one immigration office that requires 3 months and that's only for when you're converting from tourist to retirement, not for extensions. That's the Pattaya office.
