Sharing my DTV workcation experience with the Thai Embassy in Madrid in case it helps anyone currently waiting 🇹🇭🇪🇸
Application submitted: August 29
September 1: I received a request for additional documents:
* *Vida laboral*
* Cleaner and more up-to-date bank statements
* A “concise overview of professional activity and income resources while in Thailand”
For the financial proof, I decided to provide 6 months of statements and combined two savings accounts. I highlighted my name and the relevant balances and added a small recap table showing the total amount available, which was roughly twice the required amount. I wanted to make it as easy as possible for the officer reviewing the application to understand the funds.
The request for a “concise overview of professional activity and income resources while in Thailand” was a little confusing because, in my initial application, I had already submitted my employment contract, payslips and my company’s remote-work policy.
I therefore sent a short additional paragraph simply explaining that I intended to keep the same employment while staying in Thailand, as already documented in my original application.
September 2: I submitted all the requested additional documents.
Around two hours later, the application status changed to Pending Approval.
Then… complete silence 😅
September 8: I finally received the approval email 🎉
So my timeline was:
Aug 29 — Applied
Sep 1 — Additional documents requested
Sep 2 — Documents submitted → Pending Approval
Sep 8 — Approved 🎉
Hope this helps anyone applying through Madrid who is currently stuck on “Pending Approval.” In my case, several days of silence after that status were completely normal.
