Can anyone help? So ive book accommodation and my flights for myself, my husband and my 83 year old father. We travel to Thailand on the 1/1/27 and return back to the UK on the 30/3/27 and booked everything before the Visa changes. I run my own business that I have someone in running while im away. My husband is on 4 months leave and my dad has retired. We all have a decent amount of money in the bank so what Visa do we apply for? We are all over 50. Any help would be appreciated as I dont want to have to cancel. And to add we last visited in May last year
Answer summary
A traveler seeks advice on visa options for themselves, their husband, and their elderly father, all over 50, planning a trip to Thailand from January to March 2027. They have already booked flights and accommodation, and need clarity on which visa to apply for following recent visa changes, aiming to avoid canceling their plans.

How come u don’t know? If u don’t know simple stuff, how do u expect to apply for a simple DTV visa?? Aren’t you paying or declaring ur taxes or what? You can request a certificate of residence from your nearest municipality, bank statements with the current address, tax documents, etc.

You can apply from any country where you are a citizen or hold Permanent Resident STATUS. A permanent resident will be asked to prove they are resident. A citizen doesn't need to prove residence. However, both citizens and Permanent Residents may need to prove they are physically present in their country of application from the time they submit their application until their application is processed.

Take a picture in your kitchen hugging your new air fryer... they'll know that you are a permanent resident that way...

"Acceptance" in the UK is turning against its own citizens...

A place which is really close to my heart is unfortunately turning into a bucket of puss because people have no balls to speak out against rubbish coming into their society due to virtue signalling...

I doubt this is of any use to someone who doesn't understand the difference between being resident (as in living somewhere), permanently resident (as in not living/never lived anywhere else) and holding Permanent Resident STATUS.

Driving licence. It's an official ID that shows your photo and current address. I use this for my Non-O visa applications.

Drivers license does not proof citizenship nor permanent residency.

A driving licence works, I've personally used it for my Non-O visa applications to show I live at the address give. In the application. It's an official recognised government form of ID. For a UK national there is no official certificate to show residency. But hey if you think a utility bill is better then try it.

Passport shows your nationality but not where you live.

OP is from the UK looking to verify his RESIDENCE, you mention a method to verify ADDRESS, that are two different things.

you need permanent residency or be a citizen

A passport doesn't say where you live (address) only your nationality. A passport has to be supplied anyway for the bio data, whereas a driving licence shows the applicants address and is a recognised government form of ID.

I know, I was using my experience as an example. The op is from the UK looking to verify his residence, what's your issue with using a driving license.

this is not for a non-o visa and a police check is required also

UnforgettableRambutan8343 Yes, I know but I was demonstrating one method of how a person in the UK (a UK citizen) can show where they live.

Permanent Residence is an immigration status. In the UK it’s referred to as Indefinite Leave to Remain so if you’re a citizen of the UK you’d use your passport as proof of citizenship.

A driver license can be used as proof where you live, but not as proof of permanent residence or citizenship, and that is where this post is about.

A utility bill also is only proof of an address, not about citizenship or residency.

If you are a UK citizen your passport should suffice
