Hi. Can I get some advice. I’m in the UK and applying online for a retirement visa for over 50s. One of the documents they ask for is a Letter of qualification endorsement issued from the Thailand Board of Investment. BOI. Can anyone tell me more about this and how I go about getting it. Also I am travelling to Pattaya initially and staying in a hotel but I will be travelling around the country. Does it matter where you report?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is seeking guidance on applying for a retirement visa for over 50s from the UK, specifically about obtaining a Letter of Qualification Endorsement from the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI). Comments indicate that the poster might be applying for a Long Term Resident (LTR) visa rather than a regular retirement visa, which has stricter requirements. It’s suggested that the poster should check the specific requirements for both LTR and Non-O visas, including necessary documentation and qualifications needed for approval. Additionally, there is a mention of travel plans to Pattaya and the importance of reporting locations in Thailand.

I'd just add that if you are able to meet the criteria for the LTR Wealthy Pensioner visa it's absolutely the best one to go for as it provides a tax exemption on overseas income brought into Thailand

regular Non O and Non O-A you find here;

This is not a regular retirement visa, but a Long Term Resident visa with quite stiff requirements to qualify and you’ll need an approval from the Board of Investment first.

And you need to provide required documentation to get an approval letter that you qualify and the Thai embassy who serves you will issue the visa.

It sounds like you're trying to apply for the LTR visa or something that's not the regular retirement visa.

You should be applying either for the non-OA visa because you don't want to deposit money in a Thai bank, or you should be applying for the non-O visa because you don't want the insurance requirement of the non-OA and you're okay with putting 800,000 in a Thai bank.

The non-O is under non-immigrant visa section, selecting the pensioner category.

you have to do your 90 day report first time where ever your current TM30 is filed. After that you can file online.
