TLDR : Answer Summary
A French citizen residing in Laos, with a Thai mother, inquires about the types of visa available for living in Thailand. Responses suggest considering the Non-Immigrant O visa, which may allow for obtaining a Thai ID card and passport. Community members recommend checking with the Thai Embassy for more detailed information on nationality recognition and visa options.

While I understand this is important to you, unfortunately this is the thai VISA advice group, not the how can I get my thai nationality recognized group :/ There is a LOT of good information on Google about how a person with one thai parent can get their thai nationality recognized.
The Non Immigrant O visa as you could apply for a Thai ID card and passport. Contact the Thai Embassy for further information to get this Thai iD card and passport and no visa's are needed.
