What should I know about extending a Non-O visa based on marriage at Chiang Mai Immigration?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Today I went to Chiang Mai Immigration intending to extend my Non-O visa based on a Thai Wife. I arrived at 08:15 and got queue number C-17. They opened at 08:30. At 09:30, after processing queue number C-10, they announced they were already full for today but we could still have our paperwork checked today, for review at a later date. When my number was called the IO said my paperwork was well prepared but I had used an out of date form STM.2 which I got from their website (the current form is in the photo). The only other issue was that some of our signatures were too low on the paper and we need to sign again higher on the paper. I was told to come back on April 17, after Songkran as my current visa expires on April 28.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author shared their experience extending a Non-O visa at Chiang Mai Immigration, detailing an incident where they were turned away due to using an outdated form (STM.2) sourced from the website. Although their paperwork was generally in order, they were required to make adjustments and return after Songkran, as their visa expires on April 28. The post generated responses emphasizing the importance of using the latest forms directly from the office, along with general tips for navigating the immigration process during busy periods.

and on that note I see this post has served it's purpose.. Thanks for that update,

remember people check with your immigration office to get the correct forms etc before you go for your extension OR just fill them out once you're there

That office was busy today. I went for a residence certificate, all the seats were taken and a line down the stairs. Probably because they will be closed for Songkran next week.
