I will turn 50 in October 2024; however my current visa expires on Sep 24 ; the gap is 17 days! What are the best options to solve this situation? Can I apply for a retirement visa now?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing a 17-day gap between their current visa expiration and turning 50, which is necessary for a retirement visa application in Thailand. Comments suggest not applying for the retirement visa until the user turns 50, as eligibility requires them to be at least that age. Alternatives discussed include traveling to a nearby country to reset the visa status, obtaining a tourist visa upon re-entry, and preparing finances (having 800,000 baht in a bank account) for the retirement visa application.

I suggest you leave Thailand and visit another country before returning. Upon re-entry, you should be granted a 60-day tourist visa. While on this tourist visa, you should start preparing your bank account to have at least 800,000 baht for two months before applying for a retirement visa.

Suggest you apply after you turn 50...that visa takes time to proces.

Use a marriage visa for those few days.

assuming you have the 800k baht in a bank account for the required time, you can just leave, re-enter on another visa exempt entry, then go to immigration and apply for the non-o for retirement.

You cannot apply for a visa you do not qualify for. You must be 50 to apply for a retirement visa.

Find a land border bounce agency who will drive you to your nearest border and make sure you can leave and return to Thailand without any issues. I'm assuming you're eligible for the new 60 day visa exempt stamp that you would get by doing this.
