Got a fine 2000 baht for not updating my 90 days

Went into pay immigration ,

gave them the 2000 baht they printed me a receipt of notification for 11 January

That was 3 days ago, it's still not coming up authorised on my online form

It needs to show online

Has this happened to anyone else

Looks like I will need to go back in

It was so busy last time chaotic
Answer summary
A user reported receiving a 2000 baht fine for not updating their 90-day report on time. After paying the fine, they noticed that the payment wasn't reflected in their online immigration record. Other users shared their experiences and advice regarding 90-day reporting procedures, potential issues with the online system, and the importance of timely reporting to avoid fines in the future. Some suggested setting reminders for the next reporting date and mentioned that reporting performed in person might not show up online.

You were late for more than a week then, otherwise you wouldn't

I'd forgotten to do my 90 day check in too because I was sick. Went to Krabi immigration in person 10 days late. Apologized profusely. They updated it. They were very nice about it. No charge.

if you are late you pay a fine. go in and pay it and register your 90 day report - problem solved. and do it on time next time

or pay the same 2000B fine next time your extension is due and not have to worry about incurring another one in the meantime

I know it has nothing to do with visa but remember to make an international drivers licence if renting bike or car

Fined 2000 bath if you don’t have it 😁

Just got stopped and fortunately I just made it before traveling

I don't know any other country that requires people to report every 90 days.
Itellth********
A lot of misinformation spreading around. Failure to do 90 days report does not put you in overstay. A lot of people extend their visa every year and pay 2k fine once when doing so. Its not more complicated then that.
Alexander *******
If the not doing 90 days builds up just have a short trip out the country and it resets. They won t pick it up at the airport when you leave.

Isn't immigration closed today?

Itellthetruth33 had a friend that never did 90 day reporting.

He simply paid the ฿2000 fine each year when renewing his marriage visa.

the airport doesn't care about 90 day reports. Your local immigration could notice next time, or not.

If you are on DTV you need to leave every 6 months so if you did a 90 day report now you will not have to do another in 90 days, you will have to fly out.
Graham ******

idiotsomchai If you do your first 90 day report early then a second 90 day report would be due before the 180 days is up so it is possible to have to do two
Ash **********
Ash **********
idiotsomchai I'm guessing that they are not on a DTV as they are talking about reporting online. You can only report online if you reported in person the report prior, and you have to leave every 180 days, so.

For online you need to have done an in-person 90 day report previously and pretty much none of the details should change.

To do an online report you need to do it between 14 and 7 days before. Then if it doesn't get processed you have time to go in and do it yourself in person.

In person can be 14 days before to 7 days after.
John **********

When you do a report in person they put a slip in your passport with your next reporting date. It doesn't appear on the TM47 site, that's only for reports you make online

First, to make sure you don't forget to go to immigration for your 90 days, set an alarm on your phone and set it as a calendar reminder. This will prevent you from getting a fine. Also, you have another 90-day period starting January 11th. There's nothing else to do; just wait until January 11th to complete it.
Potpon******

You can do it 15 days prior or 7 days after at some immigrations

What online form are you talking about? The online system and in person are completely separate.

You should also never go to immigration just to pay a late 90-day report fine. It's the same 2000 baht whether you're 8 days late or 8 months late. Just pay it next time you already have some other business at immigration. You might even get to skip a report or two that you'll now have to do since you went to pay the fine.

I really dont understand why you give out this kind of information as its almost encouraging bad behaviour and is certainly bad practice.

Why would you want to play with fire in a country that you have chosen to retire in and live out your existence in peace?

Also what is it that is stopping anyone going to the IO every 3 months taking up say 1 hour, when they are supposed to retired?
Brandon ************
Brandon ************
@Grahame ********
it's not bad advice. If you already missed your report, there's literally zero reason to make a trip all the way to immigration just to pay a fine that will be the exact same fine if you just wait until the next time you're already going there. That's called being efficient. And some immigration offices like Chaeng Watthana in Bangkok can take 2 hours to get there, a few hours in line, and then another couple hours back home, just for the privilege of giving them your money. It makes zero sense.
Grahame *********
Grahame *********
@Brandon ***********
Sorry but we are going to have to agree to disagree, I say if you cannot comply to the rules and report immediately you realise you have missed your reporting window then you are leaving yourself wide open, why wait for the next time you visit immigration? What would be the reason I would ever go to immigration other than 90 day report or a CoR. If you can't give up 1 day in 3 months to live here then maybe better rethink your lifestyle.

Either way we all have choices and as the Thais say 'up to you'

Great site by the way, Thanks.

Kenneth Brian The law states you do 90 day reports or pay a 2000B fine so if you pay the fine at the time of your annual extension as many do you are fully compliant with the law.

My immigration officer said I must carry a copy of the 90 day report. If it was late or I didn't have one, i would be fined...out in town. I do mine online, and it takes about 5 minutes. So easy, that I wonder why anyone complains. Print it out and stick a copy in your passport envelope. Don't "staple it" like immigration was doing here, for years. It damages your passport. I have to ask them to paper clip it in, during my annual retirement extension. Every 3 months, I just load the prior application on one side of the screen and do the new application, side by side. Immigration sends a heads up emal to get it done...2 weeks beforehand.

skipping multiple reports is not advisable. One or two missed reports isn't a big issue but 3+ and you're starting to risk your future visa / long stay admissability.

how do you miss 3 reports? By then it's already time for your next extension. There are a lot of people who NEVER do a 90 day report and just take the extra 2000 baht at extension time as money well spent.

But if he is caught by the police (immigration police) with an expired 90-day report, the fine may not be limited to 2,000 baht. That would be a different matter altogether

Zaher Alachkar I've been coming here since 2004 and have never known anyone to be checked in a public space by immigration officers. I have a photo of my bio page and entry stamp on my phone. That is all you need.
Zaher **********
Zaher **********
Graham Seal You may be right that the fine is rarely imposed during checkpoint checks or bar raids, but that's different from saying it never happens the 90-day reporting requirement is a separate immigration obligation and the fact that officers usually focus on your permitted stay status doesn't automatically exempt you from the reporting requirement or its penalties unless you have reliable statistics showing that the fine is never imposed saying it has never happened is just an assumption
Graham ******
Graham ******
Zaher Alachkar You are correct but if challenged at a checkpoint or some other occassion such as a bar raid all they will be interested in is your permitted to stay status not your 90 day report status so I doubt if the 5000 Baht fine is ever applied in these circumstances.

I’m talking about immigration regulations, not individual cases. I’ve heard of foreigners who overstayed for 900 days before being arrested. Just because it takes a long time for the authorities to catch someone doesn’t mean it will never happen

Zaher Alachkar The fine is up to 2,000. baht. Not 2,000 baht Depending on how many days. In my IO up to a week late is ok and no fine. Thats what they told me last time.

Itellthetruth33 i am not talking about overstay at all, In Thailand reporting your address to Immigration every 90 days is very important If you miss the deadline a report voluntarily after the deadline, the fine is usually 2,000 baht However, if you are caught by the immigration police before reporting, the fine may be 5,000 baht.nd
Itellth********

Zaher Alachkar You made something up completely. There is no such thing as getting caught with expired 90 days report. You are confusing it with overstay. There is no enforcement of sort for expired 90 days report unless you go extend and that immigration ask for 2k baht. Many immigrations dont care.
