Hi, I have a problem now about getting a work permit here. Now im on 3 month Non-B visa which will be expired on 18th May. 2 weeks ago i went to the labor office to apply my work permit (WP.1) but the officer didnt accept the paper and said that they won’t dont any kind of work permit now because of the virus.

Today my gf called and checked with the labor office again if they have any clues about when i could apply my work permit. The answer i got is “i dont know”.

So what should i do for now? I expect to get a work permit and 1 year visa extension here without leaving Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing challenges obtaining a work permit while on a 3-month Non-B visa, which expires soon. They have been informed that the labor office is currently not processing new work permits due to the pandemic. Community members suggest coordinating with the employer for possible work permit resolution and share personal experiences regarding variations in processing at different offices.

It's getting late, and I'm closing comments for the night to prevent bad info from getting in.

I processed my new work permit in Krabi in the middle of March (I came back into the country with a 3month non-B visa on March 18th). It actually got processed just as the lock-down was coming into affect. I was due to collect April 14th but I haven't been able to get to Krabi to collect it. The Labour Dept have told me it's ready to collect whenever I can get there (I live in Koh Lanta).

I'm curious, which labor office was this?

We have gotten a few reports from people around the country that the Ministry of Labor was not processing work permit renewals OR new applications.

IF any members have experienced this OR gotten their work permit renewed please post on this thread.

And yes, as a rule we don't allow too much deviance from thai VISA questions but we're making an exception in this case to see if we can get some answers.

I got non-B yearly extension two weeks ago and then I got wp extension for a year, too. No problem, at all.

Bangkok, CW office, non-B single entry visa.

I went on the 29th to get a new WP with a new school and they accepted the application. They gave me the receipt to pick up WP on 5th of may. However that does not secure a 100% guarantee, but it did seem positive that they accepted the paperwork and cash.

On 21 April 3 of our teachers had their annual extensions and work permits renewed for another year (Bangkok).

So talk to your employer and send them to get your Work Permit sorted and after that your Extension of Stay based on employment in Thailand.
