Hi all, hoping you can help me ☺️

I am a teacher on a South African passport and am in the process of getting my non-B visa. 

My documents have been stamped by the education department on the 19th of November but I’m planning to go to the embassy in Vientiane, Laos on the 22nd or 23rd of December. 

My question is, does the stamp on my documents expire on the 19th of December or is it ok if my stamp is older than a month before I head to the embassy?

in penang Malaysia the documents was valid 30 days 2 years ago. Not that it will help you a lot but a 30 day time frame seems reasonable.

What was the reason you got the documents so far in advance of you actually going to the consulate to get a visa?

There definitely is a time frame that they're valid for but you should be asking your employer if it will work and have them call the consulate if they don't know..

We weren’t expecting the papers to take a day. We thought they would take a week, at least.

Just a heads up, you need to book an appointment for the Vientiane embassy, you can do it online (there is about a 2-3 week waiting list).
