Afternoon all, with the new E-visa recently introduced to most countries surrounding Thailand, how many days does it typically take for a 60 day Tourist Visa to be processed?

I have to exit Thailand and come back on an actual tourist visa (not visa exemption) so I can re-apply for the ED visa at Chaeng Watthana afterwards.

(I already had the ED visa before but my university didn't have the documents ready for my 6 months extension and now I have to leave the country and come back again after paying a 5 day overstay fine and getting a temporary 7 day extension).

The Thai E-visa website states it *could* take up to 15 days but I'm doubtful it would actually take that long?

Thinking of going to Kuala Lumpur or Cambodia to lodge the E visa application for tourist visa - does anyone have any recommendations?

Otherwise, a physical appointment at the Thai embassy in Vientiane, Laos may be a faster option?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The processing time for a 60-day Tourist E-visa for Thailand can take up to 15 days, but may not actually take that long. It is suggested to ensure all application materials are in order, as processing times depend on various factors. Comments also suggest checking embassy websites for processing times in neighboring countries, with some locations like Kuala Lumpur reporting 3 days and Hanoi 2 days. Additional advice includes applying for the ED visa in your home country and being aware of the shift to e-visa systems in Laos.

Check the websites of the embassy in the neighboring countries. KL was 3 days, Hanoi was 2 (but wanted a lot of extra paperwork)

Well if it says up to 15 days then that is what you have to allow. Yes I agree it probably won’t take that long but you cannot plan say a 5 day trip out of Thailand when you have no idea how long it will take. It depends on many factors including have you provided everything correctly, how many applications they have to process before yours etc

Better to apply ED Visa in your home country.

I’ll let others comment on time for KL or Cambodia to process.

Just to say that as of Jan 1st Laos embassies and consulates switch to e-visa too and there are no appointments available before then for walk in anymore.
