TLDR : Answer Summary
Renting a car in Phuket generally involves needing a credit card, and both an international and national driving license. Many users report having no issues with car rentals in Thailand, with similar experiences to renting in other countries. It's advisable to ensure the rental company provides the correct insurance and be aware that they may hold a security deposit.
