TLDR : Answer Summary
In Koh Samui, you generally do not need to make an appointment to obtain a new driving license; it's typically a first-come, first-served process. You can bring your home country driving license without needing an International Driving Permit, but it's important to dress respectfully, as some have reported being turned away for inappropriate attire. Lastly, awareness of driving risks is advisable for foreigners.

Best if you don't drive because if you are foreigners any accidents you lose and you will pay big

never wear flip flops shorts are OK, but never go to a government establishment in flip flops or showing your feet it's disrespectful in Thailand

Normal first come first served: no IDP needed if you have a regular homecountry driving licence

I can only speak from Australian tourists point of view but we have to get an international driver license before we head over

If you have your home driving licence you can book an appointment on the DLT app or turn up at the centre , but be prepared to wait along time or the clerk will give you a date to come bsck , youneed a residence certificate from I imigration and a medical certificate from a hospital or clinic who nay charge for if ,,,, good luck you will get 2 year licence first and after that runs out a 5 year one ,repeating the process

no, an IDP is valid for 1 or 3 years but in Thailand it only covers you for the first 90 days of each entry stamp up to the

years expiry date
