Is there a minimum number of days left on a non b needed to apply for extension of stay? I know I can apply as soon as 30 days remain but not sure if I can leave it until last few days to apply.

You can even do it on the last day, but if one of the copies are missing and you have to come back the next day you go into overstay. Doing it early gives you time to prepare and organize. The Extension is added on your current stay, so you won't loose any days by doing it early.
