Approved - Vientiane, Laos
Soft Power Muay Thai
Since i learned everything about DTV here, i want to share some of my DTV experience for future applicants.
Timeline
19 June Friday - paid for application at the embassy
19 June Friday - Pending Approval
22 June Monday - Interview Date given for next Monday
29 June Monday - Interview done. Approved Late evening.
No agent, no request for additional documents.
I've chosen FitFac Bangkok for my Muay Thai gym, 9 month course. They got my documents ready same day of course payment. Highly recommend them.
For financials, 6 months old bank statements, sign and stamped at local branch. i presented requested 500k in barely touched USD savings account. Also provided some stock investments as additional proof of funds.
For proof of location, clear photo of passport and a recent photo of myself with white background, entry stamp and Laos visa, boarding pass, hotel reservation and receipt, selfies at Vientiane airport and hotel, photo of taxi receipt that i get at airport.
I added cover letters to all pdfs, consenting all DTV rules and to explain stuff.
Programs that i used, Adobe Free Trial to create, edit pdfs. Irfanview to edit, resize photos. MS Paint to highlight and note stuff on photos. Google Gemini to change my notepad cover letters into fancy professional pdfs. One tip here: First resize the photos you take with your phone, then convert them to pdfs. A 1/4 resized photo will still look clear with a fraction of size on disk.
As for Vientiane tips: Book a hotel/hostel close the embassy. Just check their google comments first. Use Kokkok app to travel. Best exchange rate that i have found was at Phongsavanh Bank in Parkson Mall. Visit Vang Vieng if you got time after DTV is done.
And Good luck.
