I know showing proof of funds isn’t common upon re-entry into Thailand, but has anyone been asked to show proof of full 500k baht? Or is it only 20K baht you have to prove? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters is that while the official requirement for visa purposes is proof of 500,000 baht, it is generally more difficult to verify such funds if they are held in foreign banks. When re-entering Thailand, tourists are often only required to show 20,000 baht in cash. However, there have been reports of increased scrutiny for first-time arrivals at certain entry points, suggesting it may be beneficial to be prepared to show the larger amount if necessary.
Well heavily depends port on entry letter of Thai law as I understand it no, but 20k is needed as a guarantee to be able to show you can support yourself. That being said recently post from Chiang Mai indicates first time arrivals have checks upon going through
Immigration, and would be handy to be able to show that 500k, haven’t heard from anyone else being interviewed/interrogated like Chiang Mai.
Recent clients of mine reports a smooth process in Bangkok.

The visa requirement is 500K, but checking that is more difficult because it can be on foreign bank.
The 20K might be asked as available cash for tourists.
