Went to Chiang Rai IO this morning for clarification on Embassy Income letter for extension of visa based on

Marriage and was told - no more Embassy income letters accepted only 400000 baht in bank for 2 months. When I query it they replied new policy. It's obvious from other posts on Thai visa that IO's left hand does not know what it's right hand is doing, as income letters are still acceptable in some IO offices. Wish Thai IO would clarify.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent visit to the Chiang Rai Immigration Office revealed that they are no longer accepting Embassy income letters for visa extensions based on marriage. Instead, applicants are now required to show a balance of 400,000 baht in a bank account for at least two months. This change appears to be part of a new policy, but inconsistencies have been reported, as some Immigration Offices still accept income letters. The community expresses a desire for clear communication from Thai Immigration regarding these changes.

As soon as the immigration office puts out some official policy I'm sure it will sweep the inter-web <- or the extremely small part of the inter-web that is about thailand at least ;)

we're done, thanx for the update :)

and one last time, no matter what some paper pushing, passport stamping immigration official at your immigration office is saying about what they will and won't be doing once the affidavit of income letters are discontinued by the consulates NO ONE has any idea.

We wish the same. All we can do is wait for a statement of Thai Immigration.
