TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of changing a COVID visa to a Non-B visa in Phuket involves a cost of approximately 2,000 THB for the visa application, along with 1,900 THB for any necessary extension of stay. However, challenges may arise as the documents required for applying for a Non-B visa inside the country differ significantly from those needed for an application at a Thai consulate abroad. The success of the application may depend on having appropriate documentation from your employer and the correct immigration status upon entry into Thailand. It's recommended to visit the immigration office with a representative from your employer for guidance.

Hang about... Aren't you the one that is on an original 90 day non-B entry before you went on amnesty, before you went on embassy extensions, before you went on covid extensions?

If you are, I think there is no way you can get a NEW Non-B visa because you already still ARE on the entry stamp from a Non-B :( (from another company where you didn't get an extension) and you can't get a Non-immigrant visa FROM a Non-Immigrant visa entry stamp (even one that ran out :()

I see a trip to your immigration office in your near future with a representative from your employer to see if you can even apply for a new non-B on the stamps you have now..

Okay, what happens and the reason it is much more difficult to get a non-B INSIDE the country IS

The documents that agencies/schools etc are used to handing to potential employees to go to a thai consulate in another country and get a 90 day Non-B visa (like people used to do pre-covid shit show) are not the same documents you need to provide to apply for an in country 90 day Non-B visa at the immigration office.

They are night and day different as far as the requirements. SO whether you can or can't get an in country Non-B visa from a covid extension depends 100% on the ability of your school to give you the correct documentation AND you being on the correct entry stamp (back when ever you entered the country before you got the covid extension) AND you having enough time on your current stamp to wait out the under consideration period.

As long as your employer meets the reequipments to provide you all necessary documents, and your local immigration office accept the application, you can do the in-country conversion process.

It's difficult to convert a 60 day extension of stay based on COVID-19 to a Non-B/ One year extension of stay based on employment. Also,
@James *******
made a post yesterday with a link to a newspaper article. The immigration department ARE cracking down on teachers working without work permits, AND will make it difficult for people to start teaching who entered on tourist visas/ visa exempts/ got 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19
