Just another government devised rip off to the unsuspecting tourist who has no idea of the rules in thailand. As and when it comes to a debate I envision multiple drivers crowding the tourist and bully tactics coming into effect.

have taken many taxis from airport to sukumvit soi 3.costs have ranged from 200 to 650. If driver thinks it your 1st time he gives you your around the tobacco co. a few times.

buses, train, grab. Have had so much trouble with taxis.They pick you up, get 1km out of airport and stop to transfer you to another driver.... dont know why, new driver and car are not medallioned cabs
