Hi guys, good morning to all,

Currently I am on the last extension of stay Non-ED Visa.

it expires on the 1st of July.

I am in talks with a prospective employer in Bangkok to arrange a Non-B and work permit for myself. However they are a totally Thai company and have never had to arrange this visa change before.

What would be the best plan of action both financially and time-wise?

Any insight on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Neil

TLDR : Answer Summary
Neil is seeking advice on transitioning from his Non-ED Visa to a Non-B Visa as he is in discussions with a prospective employer in Bangkok. His Non-ED Visa is set to expire on July 1st, and he needs guidance on the best financial and timely approach for securing a work permit and visa change, especially since his potential employer has no prior experience with such arrangements.

As you can not change from the ED visa to the Non Immigrant B visa inside the country, the best option is to apply as soon as possible for the Work Permit, get the application approved WP3 form, take a look at the requirements of the Thai Consulate you like to visit and apply there for the Non Immigrant B visa.

@Neil ******
Yes, the WP 3 application progress is for people who stay abroad and do no yet have a visa, often used by employers for people inside Thailand with the incorrect visa. For people with the Non Immigrant B visa or Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage with Thai National the WP1 application method is needed.

Hi Robert, is it possible to make a WP3 application in progress even though I’m not yet on a non-B?

Okay great info thank you for your time.

If the application is approved by the Ministry of Labor you will get a from called WP 3 application in progress, which you need to apply for a Non Immigrant B visa at a Thai Consulate.

a Re-entry permit is needed if you like to go abroad and come back within your current Admitted to Stay or Permitted up to ../../.. date. You have an Extension of Stay based on study and this has to be cancelled at the Immigration Office at the last day of going to school and before you leave the country.

@Robert ******
Is the cancellation necessary even if I would need a re-entry permit to return (visa is cancelled)

If I go to the office of Labour with all corresponding application papers and corporate documentation am I right in assuming that I should receive a receipt of application which will then support my application for Non-B outside of country?

Are there any regulations that you know of which prohibit the submission of WP application whilst in-country?
Robert *******
Please do not forget to cancel your Extension of Stay at Immigration before you decide to travel.
Robert *******
Depends where you go, most Consulates are apply in the morning, pick up next working day in the afternoon.

Okay, Thanks Robert. Just like i thought. Any idea about a timeframe for the process outside of the country?
