What is the best visa option for extended stays and multiple entries to Thailand for a 76-year-old expat?

I know it’s been asked before but ….
I am coming to Thailand at the end of September to stay for 82 days., I then stay in the UK for a few weeks and then go back to Thailand for 85 days. I have the same accommodation throughout even when I’m here in the UK. I also spent three weeks at the same place last April and May. I thought I had it all worked out for visas but I realise that I might want to travel out of Thailand and back a tourist to Vietnam for example and then come back to my accommodation in Hua Hin. I am a 76-year-old. I want to do things properly so that I don’t get refused entrance my wanting to travel outside of Thailand for a few days and re enter seems to be a problem. Thank you

Apply for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) from your home country before you travel to Thailand. That visa is valid for 6 months from the date it is issued and every time you enter Thailand while it remains valid you get stamped in for 60 days which you can extend by 30 days at your local Thai immigration office. You can get almost 9 months out of it by exiting Thailand and re-entering just before the visa itself expires.

By last April/May do you mean this year or last year? If it was this year what other history do you have in the last 12 to 18 months? If you have history you might be better applying for the 12 month Non-OA visa but it does require insurance which might be an issue given your age.

If you get a Non-O for each visit you will get 90 days on entry to Thailand. If you leave during those 90 days you need to get a re-entry permit to keep your 90 day stamp live, same permitted to stay date (no extra days)
