Hi. Has anyone had experience of using the Thai Consulate in Glasgow, UK, to apply for an Non imm O visa?
Apparently they are not on line, and do not accept postal applications. The applicant must send their documents by email (passport copy, pension statement which apparently is available through the UK Pension department) and on checking the documentation the applicant is given an appointment to turn up with the original documentation for verification. Between emailing the documents to Consulate the Consulate runs the verification process through the London embassy for approval / rejection so when the appointment is given to the applicant it appears this is given on the basis the application is approved subject to verification of the original documents. The Glasgow Consulate or at least the Visa Officer is a Scottish lady which makes communication easier also. I have not personally had experience of the above and currently do not know of anyone who has hone down this route. I raise this only to find out if anyone in the group has used the Glasgow Consulate and if the above is generally correct as to the process. I understand the online application system is somewhat fraught with problems and this Consulate is currently the only Consulate wherein the applicant can actually phone and speak to the Visa Officer in person about the process /documentation required etc. I personally do not need to use this service, at least not at present, but I thought, if correct, this might be useful information for other members
Good luck.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai Consulate in Glasgow requires applicants for the Non-Immigrant O visa to submit documents via email, followed by a verification appointment with original documents. The process includes checks with the London embassy for approval before the appointment is granted. Communication with the Visa Officer, who is reportedly Scottish, is straightforward, making it easier for applicants.
