What challenges do travelers face when checking in for flights to Thailand with a DTV?
Onward Ticket Troubles
I just departed Denpasar Bali, on route to use my DTV for the first time.
Check in staff in Bali were totally confused by what my Thailand visa is and had many questions.
It took 20 minutes and 3 staff debating in Bahasa, but after I signed a bunch of forms saying I will buy a ticket out of Thailand if rejected by immigration, I did get through.
The next time, I’ll get a refundable onward ticket but was hoping to avoid the hassle.
Do other experience the same?

Why do you need to show your visa into Thailand when you're leaving Indonesia? You only need to show you visa at thai immigration when entering Thailand.

Just experienced the same in Malaysia. But why wouldnt you need to show an onward ticket as It's basically just a tourist visa that requires you to leave within 180 days?

Wordt comes to the worst just get a one way Air Asia ticket DMK to Penang.
You can buy cancelation insurance for 600 baht with the ticket so that's all you end up losing if you cancel.

Flew from Bali to BKK too. They asked if I had a visa, I showed them the DTV and just simply said ' its a 6 month visa' and all good. No onward ticket or anything necessary.

Hi. Indonesian here. I experienced similar thing at Ngurah Rai Airport but what I did was to explain the check in staff in short, effective sentence telling that it's a newly launched long term remote worker visa that allows its holders to stay in Thailand up to 180 days.

bahasa just means "language". you can just say indonesian since the full word for their language is bahasa indonesia.

Had the same on a 60 day VOA last year. My stay way 108 days, but with 6 weeks Laos and Vietnam in the middle.

well I arrived and then got 60 days. Perhaps it has another name, it was free and on arrival. I call those VOA. Rest is noise.Peter ********
NoughtyBadoof visa on arrival is for certain nationalities and they pay for a visa when they arrive in Thailand and they get two weeks. You didn’t got a visa. You entered with visa exemption and got stamped in for 60 days. A visa is never free, you didn’t pay so you don’t have a visa.

Yeah we faced like this situation and airline staff didn’t accept DTV don’t need return ticket so we bought refundable return ticket

GrayMouse4613 did you buy a proper one, I looked at those "confirmed reservation" ones for $20, but didn't need in the end.
