Hello,

We would love to move to Thailand for 8-12 months with our 2 kids ( 7&10) I have a remote job, however we do not have savings for a DVT visa. Is there any other way to stay in Thailand for that long? Is it easy to extend a 60 days visa. We are from the UK and the cost of living is really getting to us as a family. We would love to give our boys some freedom and explore Asia. Thanks for all your help and advice!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK family is seeking to move to Thailand for 8-12 months with limited savings, specifically asking about alternatives to the DTV visa. They are considering the ease of extending a 60-day visa and the community provided various insights. Suggestions include applying for a METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) to stay nearly nine months, extending the initial 60-day visa by 30 days, and possibly doing border runs to renew their stay. There are also discussions about the importance of budgeting for living and education costs in Thailand.

DO get a Tourist visa 60 days + can extend for additional 30. While you're here go talk with a reliable well established+ well reviewed Visa service company. They'll lay out your options for U + family.

DON'T DON'T DON'T listen to all the people on this thread who are mad at life everyday + telling u not to come...they're all buffoons + like to spew Negativity all over the ๐ŸŒŽ.

U have enough income to support your family here for awhile for sure.

You can extend 60 days by 30 days and do a border run with an agent

which will give you another 60 days.

I would first look at the costs of living in thailand before you think its cheaper especially with a family, you say you dont have money for a DTV how will you afford health care for your family as its not free in thailand like the uk, travel insurance wont cover you for that long so you will need something? I understand your concerns in the uk but you need to do some homework before you look elsewhere

If you have a Master's degree, earn over 40k USD, and the company you work for has annual revenue over 50 million (if you earn over 80k USD annually the degree requirement is wavied ). You can look into the LTR work from Thailand visa. It's a 10 year visa.

Those comments are un necessary. This person came here for advice not to have their parenting skills judged. Lots of families leave the UK with their children to show them the world.. absolutely no need for unkind comments! Just move along....

METV multiple entry tourist visa will get you nearly 9 months with correct timing.

You come back into country just before 6 months is up and you will get a 60 day stamp which you can extend by 30 days.
