Another special case: Expired METV + extension since April 28th, on amnesty. I'm gay married to a Thai so not eligible for Non-Im 0. The plan was to use METV until I'm 50 (now 49) and then do Longstay. Since I'm high risk (pulmonary fibrosis), I wonder if there's any other option than Elite Visa if I'd rather avoid travel to Europe this year. Elite takes about two months to do so I would have to decide fairly soon.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is currently on an expired METV with an extension as part of the COVID-19 amnesty and is exploring alternatives to the Elite Visa due to health issues and the impending need for a new visa as they approach their 50th birthday. Community responses suggest using the provisional amnesty until travel borders resume, obtaining a single entry tourist visa, and consulting with medical professionals for extensions based on health conditions.

Are you in Thailand , as if so you can do the process without going out. I had my elite visa approved while still on non imm type b. Had the visa cancelled and got the elite visa issued in my passport in Thailand

I asked my doctor about that but I don't take medication right now. I only have to take very strong antibiotics if my lungs get infected (for instance by CoVid) and would be almost certainly under supervision. That's the irony, if I get sick, I'd get an extension but wouldn't be able to apply for it ๐Ÿ˜”

are you under doctors care for your medical condition here in Thailand?

If so consult with your doctor about a no fly ...under medical care extension...usually granted up to 60 days.

A 90 day extension requires additional hospital documentation.

That would give you from July 31 for 60 days to see if a land border opens. If it does...doing border runs with extensions ..30 days plus 30 day extension...will get you to your 50th birthday in December. Two land border runs are allowed each calendar year.

You have options to consider...Good Luck

When is your birthday?

When I applied for Elite, the process from application till approval was 1 month

Last I heard Elite was expediting their processing since covid-19 started, when was the last time you talked with them?

take the amnesty as long as you can, then once the borders open up for incoming foreigners, go to a nearby consulate and get a single entry tourist visa, that'll get you 60 days and add in a 30 day extension for 1900 taking you to 90 days. Do that a few times at the nearby consulates to get you thru the year.

Hm not sure land borders will open though. Given how tough Thais are on their own people returning.
