So today I called and asked a couple questions as a veteran receiving disability benefits. I was told that not only is disability and school stipends not accepted as a reason to get a visa approved but also rental properties were not a reason to get a visa approved. he said that my best option was to get a remote job or to enroll in a class out in Thailand. he also let me know that the music option is only for any type of concert that is a year-long going to one or two concert even if they are months apart will not get you approved. Unless you are performing multiple concerts that are far apart. Also let me know signing up for anything that is less than two or three months will not get you approved a two week cooking class or an appointment that is less than 60 days apart will get denied. This is from an Embassy worker that I was blessed to speak to without paying or completing an application. He also lmk that we aren’t supposed to call them for that lol 😂 but he was nice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A community member shared insights from a phone conversation with an embassy worker regarding visa approval criteria. They learned that disability and school stipends, as well as rental properties, do not qualify for visa approval. The embassy worker suggested that a remote job or enrolling in a longer-term class in Thailand would be more effective. Additionally, for music-related visas, participation in concerts must be frequent and ongoing. Community comments debated the reliability of the embassy's advice, suggesting alternative methods for obtaining a visa through educational enrollment and proof of funds.

I wouldn't trust that embassy worker AT ALL

It sure sounds like they don't know what they're talking about 🙁

TONZ of people have been approved thru the 4 thai consulates in the US with "sketchy" enrollments in schools, functions, seminars, gyms, or with doc notes, estimates for treatment from places, etc.

My advice is sign up for some b/s class for 6 months, get the proof of enrollment, get the bank statement showing you have the 500K baht or the equivalent, go online apply and see.

I’m not saying ppl don’t get away with stuff but some don’t I’m just helping ppl before they drop that amount esp vets.. you can finesse it but it’s all in what you say and who you get he works there so 🤷🏽‍♀️

you aren't actually helping anyone. You are simply passing on hearsay that is repeatedly being shown to be false. The so called "expert" you reference actually doesn't know either, and is only guessing. As long as you have the equivalent of bt500,000 in your personal bank account there are countless ways to get the DTV, and thousands are doing it daily.

how don’t they know when it’s there job? They do the approvals…this was specifically information for military veterans. You all are actually loud and wrong as people have been denied for the things I stated

and people have been currently approved too, all over the world, including the Thai embassy/consulates in the US, for the same things you stated. Oh, and I am also a military vet, USAF. Did you actually apply?

right none of those things you mentioned have anything to do with a Destination Thailand Visa 🙁

Get a letter from a doc/hospital here that says you need ongoing medical treatment/supervision, etc, show 500K baht or the equivalent in a bank account and apply for the DTV based on Soft Power..

If you are indeed IN Georgia USA you'd use the one in Washington DC and I'd just meet the requirements for soft power (enroll in a muay thai school for 6 months, or any one of the things people have posted on this group as having gotten them approved for) then show the proof of funds (500K baht is about 14K USD), apply online and you'll get the visa

There are several consulates, too. N.Y. comes to mind. He should contact them and check if one of them kiss easier to cope with ... hm, not sure, which Washington it is, lol. But Washington DC is the other side of the country.

I don't think Americans realize how easy it is compared to other locations around the world. It may take up to 4 weeks for approval but some of the posts I have seen are people approved for the sketchiest reasons.

It depends on the embassy processing the application what criteria they are applying
