TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent discussion among expats in Thailand concerns the reported introduction of an electronic TM6 form, which is expected to replace the non-implemented ETA starting May 1st. While some participants express skepticism regarding the approval and actual implementation of the TM6, others mention that it is already in use at border crossings. As of now, there's no confirmation from official sources, and it appears to be a proposal awaiting further clarity. Discussions highlight the mixed understanding of both locals and foreigners about these changes in immigration and travel requirements.
. Google Malaysias version. Will probably mimic it. Takes 5 minutes online done within 24 hrs of arrival. Can do it airside in front of passport control.

I crossed the border from Prum to Ban Pakkad this morning. Had to fill out a TM6. Even though I have a retirement visa.
Not quite sure what you're having trouble with. The TM6 form was suspended a couple of years ago, now it's coming back as an electronic form. This is for ALL arrivals. The ETA is for people arriving without a visa and will be tied to the 300 Baht tourism tax. Is it that difficult? Is it the Thais who don't know what's going on, or is it foreigners who can't understand plain processes?

There’s a meeting on January 31 about this. It looks very straight forward and they may do away with the TM30.
Somebody somewhere says something in passing and the media pick up on it and run with it. Thailand is well known for throwing things like the ETA or in this case the TM6 out for public comment then nothing happens. If the 1st of May comes and a TM6 has to be done OK we will have to do it. I see this as a replacement for the ETA and Im not surprised they haven't tacked on the 300Baht entrance fee. For those who live in Thailand and regularly travel it maybe a problem however most countries you enter are going some sort of Electronics ETA.

Even government doesn't really know, Facebook even less. Just check before departure if any announcement was made. It will make the headlines.

TM6 are still issued at some land border crossings now,it's not hard, you just fill in the form ,and keep half in your passport for departure .

Thailand already has the TM30 which is completed by your hotel when checking in or by owner if staying in a condo/house.
