I went to the Amphur’s office today to request a “Single Status Certificate” needed for the K-1 visa interview. They couldn’t help or didn’t seem to know how to create one. Does anyone know what is needed and where I can get one of these certificates.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Single Status Certificate is necessary for a K-1 visa interview, but obtaining it can be challenging. When visiting the Amphur’s office, applicants might find staff unsure about how to issue this certificate. Key steps include requesting the certificate at the district office, translating it into the partner's language, and having it legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Some users suggest verifying requirements with your embassy, as you may also need to obtain the document through them. Additionally, bringing an English version of the document's Thai name may facilitate the process at the Amphur's office.

Look at the embassy list of required documents in Thai. Show the amphur the Thai name. Ask for it in English so you don't have to get it translated.

Do you not have to get that from your embassy?

For Thai nationals marrying a foreigner:

1. Obtain a Single Status Certificate:

This certificate is issued by Thai government authorities (e.g., the district office or "Amphur") and must be translated into English or the language of the destination country.

2. Translation and Certification:

The translated certificate needs to be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the respective embassy of the destination country…. My fiancé and I had no luck at the. Amphur’s office today….

Sounds like a declaration that you or your partner are free to marry

ie not already married

Usually a document that has been notarised will do ??
