Hi. I’m not sure if I have already asked

This question on this site.

Ref. The requirements for the first

Year extension of a marriage visa

As I am now on uk state pension.

Is as I understand is 400.000.

Baht in my Thai bank account for

At least two months before

Applying. Now this is where I

Get confused about the second

Year extension. As I have been

Told so many different things

About the requirements?

Can I show 12 months statements

From my Thai bank account

Showing more than 40.000.

Going into that account each

Month from my uk bank account.

To apply for my second year

Extension.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the requirements for the second year extension of a marriage visa in Thailand, especially regarding the use of Thai bank account statements showing monthly deposits from a UK bank. Various comments suggest that while some immigration offices may accept proof of monthly deposits totaling 40,000 baht for the past year, others require that funds are earned within Thailand. Therefore, outcomes may vary by location, and visiting the immigration office for specific guidance is recommended.

What you didn't ask but I will share with you.

I was shopping around for visa options, marriage or retirement. Visa agents quoted me 10-15K to do the retirement visa. They quoted me 60K to do the marriage visa.

nobody likes those things. Pay an agent?

Hi have already chatted with a agent and they quoted me

50.000 baht for a marriage visa. But then you have to pay some more money every time you do your 90 day reporting. But I will still keep this as an option.

The answer is maybe. A number of immigration offices require you to earn the money inside Thailand to use monthly income. Best to go and ask them

I just keep 400k in my bank here.

It MIGHT work and it might not. More and more offices are saying IF you don't legally work IN thailand and make the minimum 40K baht a month salary to meet the monthly income requirements based on marriage extension you CANNOT use monthly incoming transfers from overseas of 40K baht a month for the previous 12 months.

It's just a crap shoot on whether your immigration office will or won't allow it, and they wouldn't allow it on the first yearly extension off a 90 day Non-O because you wouldn't have a year's worth of 40K baht a month transfers <- meaning you either legally work here with a work permit and the appropriate minimum salary, your embassy still issues the income affidavit OR you bank the funds.

Hi. I take note of what you are

Saying. I would not be working in Thailand as I am a

Man of 75. Done me fair share of working. Now wanting to spend my time

With my wife on our farm

Which I bought in 2013.

@Robin *******
and if you have any problems, I agree with
@Gardar **************************
that you could change reason for extension simply to retired and use the transfer method if you can meet the 65K baht a month. Normally just from your second extension, but I’ve seen feedbacks of people also allowed from the first.

@Robin *******
I understand, good luck anyway. I’ve seen feedbacks recently that people are both allowed and denied to apply for an extension based on marriage with monthly transfers.

As you see her in the main immigration in Bangkok the transfer option for pension is not mentioned, only if you show affidavit.

@Robin *******
I would look into retirement visa for you, since alot less paperwork and hassle
Kool *******
Yes, as long as they were direct deposited regularly into your Thai bank account every month for 12 months. Your bank must issue deposit summary for every month showing these regular deposits. You can not use the bank statements you get in the mail. Just keep in mind the bank statements are only valid for 7 days with immigration.

Thanks that is what I was hoping you would say.

@Robin *******
as long as there is one for every month, and not two one month, and none the next, you'll be fine

@Kool ******
Again thanks for the details

As you seam to be able to give me a better answer than most people with my concerns about marriage visa extension. Can tell me

The 400.000 baht I must show to have in my Bangkok bank account. For at least two months before I apply.

How long must that money stay in my Thai bank account.??
Kool *******
@Robin *******
yes, it has to be in your account for two months before applying for your one year extension, but, for the initial 90 day visa as soon as it is in your account you can apply. It doesn't matter where the bt400,000 comes from, and as soon as you get your one year extension stamp you can take any, or all of the bt400,000 out of your account, just don't make the mistake of closing your account. It just has to be in your account two months before your next yearly extension.

This will help you with your problem but I would recommend that you go to immigration office for their own requirements

He already had a first year of an "extension of stay" and is going for the second application. Your attempt to help is very kind of you, but this is the wrong form. These requirements are for the initial "change of visa type" inside Thailand on Immigration Chiang Mai. He already is way past these steps
