We are coming to Thailand early in 2027. We will come on a 60 day tourist visa and apply for it before we leave Canada. (From Thai embassy here) Could you please tell me how the days are counted?

is the arrival day counted and the departure day? Right now our days from arrival to departure, (counting both those days) is exactly 60 days. Is this risky?
Answer summary
When traveling to Thailand on a 60-day tourist visa, the counting of days begins from the day of arrival. The arrival day is counted as day 1, and each subsequent day in Thailand counts as one day until departure. Consequently, both the arrival and the departure days are included in the total count, which means that if your total stay including those days is exactly 60 days, there is a risk of overstaying if any travel delay occurs. It's advisable to allow for an extra day or two for unforeseen circumstances.

Your stay will be 89 nights (90 days)

When coming from Canada you may land late in the night. Say you arrive at 11 pm, and are stamped in before midnight, your 1st day is already used up. So the time you are stamped in is important in counting your days.

It’s plain simple.

You count calendar days.

Once you enter that’s day 1

after that each each calendar day is new day

Day one is the date you are stamped in, and the clock stops on the date you are stamped out. So, this can be manipulated a little if you arrive on a late flight or leave on an early flight.

If it becomes a big stress for you do not forget you can get a 30 day extension no problem.

Yes, arrival day and departure days are counted, as you are in the country those days. Even if you arrived at 11:55pm, that 5 minutes would be counted as your first day.

.....although personally, if I arrived at 11.55pm, I'd hang around till after midnight before I went through immigration.

Donnie TimbangJaya McCulloch same. Just making the point through, that it can be almost none of the day left and it would count, if entered

The day you arrive is day 1 (because you're in Thailand for that day, so it's your first day). Then you can count 59 nights to arrive at day 60. Every single day you're inside of Thailand counts as one of the days.
