Help please with a few questions on the lousy STV Visa.

1. How early can I seek a 90-day renewal?

2. If I renew early, will I cheat myself out of the full 90 day period?

3. Are there any offices around Bangkok or Kanchanaburi that were easy to renew/work-with?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses several questions regarding the STV Visa, specifically the renewal process. It details that applicants can typically seek a 90-day renewal up to 30 days before the visa's expiry without losing the full 90-day period. It highlights the requirements for renewal, including the need for proof of accommodation and approved health insurance. The conversation includes insights on the difficulty of renewing the STV visa in various immigration offices, particularly in Kanchanaburi.

>1. How early can I seek a 90-day renewal?

Depends on the immigration office; most allow you to renew when you have 30 days or less remaining.

>2. If I renew early, will I cheat myself out of the full 90 day period?

No.

>3. Are there any offices around Bangkok or Kanchanaburi that were easy to renew/work-with?

You *CAN NOT* shop around for a 90 extension of stay based on STV, and you will need either:

- A pre-booked, prepaid hotel with the owner's tax ID number for the hotel; OR;

- A rental agreement signed with the owner's ID card OR;

- Title deed to your property.

You will also need *APPROVED* health insurance, which is the same type of insurance you got when you first applied for the STV.

>Kanchanaburi

I live in Kanchanburi, and it is a VERY difficult immigration to work with for the extension of stay, and they will find a reason to (verbally) deny you.

I have a report from Nonthaburi through:

I was in Nonthaburi to extend my STV visa. Here's what the officer asked...

1. Copy of passport

2. Copy of TM6

3. Copy of STV visa page on your passport

4. TM7, use the last updated one or get it from Immigration Office. With a photo affixed.

5. STM 2. Declaration that you're aware about overstay and the penalties.

6. ASQ certificate letter stating that you've completed 14 days quarantine.

7. Some kind of proof that you indeed stayed at the ASQ, i produced my ASQ hotel receipt ( room charges )

8. Health Insurance showing coverage amount, line by line items in details of IP, OP, Covid coverage amount.

9. Rental. To state clearly rental period when to when, at where, 4 signatures either passport or Thai ID at the end of agreement ( the usual standard contract ). If the rental's address is in Bangkok, you can only extend visa in Bangkok. Rental period should cover at least 3 months more.

And sign at every page."

I have reports from Bangkok that if you did not purchase the insurance for the entire 270 days, they will verbally reject your STV application.

Hi Benjamin Hays! I'm in Samui with a 30-day visa exemption and it's less than 2 before it expires. Does it seem too early to get the 30-day extension to you? I would ask them, but they don't answer emails. :-/

Most IOs you can go up to 30 days before expiry. You don't lose any days, the next extension runs from the expiry of the current one, and you use the IO where you filed your TM30
