What are the requirements and payment options for obtaining a Non-Immigrant Type B visa at the Thai embassy in London?

Hello all! 😊

My partner and I are moving from the UK to Bangkok in August (we’ve secured jobs at two international schools as teachers)- Currently, I’m trying to secure our Non-Immigrant Type B visas; it’s proving to be lots of fun. I’d really appreciate the advice of a kind soul/s with regards to a few questions I have. I’ll repay said soul with a beer (or two!) once I’m over there :-P

1) I’m in a position where I need to post our visas to the Thai embassy in London- they only accept cash or postal order. Handy. I’m going to go with the postal order as it’s more secure- however, the maximum value of one of these is £250. The visas are £300 a pop. Does anyone know if the embassy will accept multiple postal orders when I send our applications?

2) On the website ([members only]), there are two sections with requirements for Non-Immigrant type B visas. A ‘general’ one and another section for teachers. The requirements are slightly different (for example, the ‘standard’ one asks for letters of recommendation from prior employers, identifying job description and length of service time). I’d rather not have to ‘chase’ said letters up if I don’t need to. Any idea if these are indeed two separate sections or if I need to send ‘everything’ from ‘every’ section?

Thanks in advance for any support/guidance that can be offered with this! 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on applying for Non-Immigrant Type B visas for themselves and their partner while moving to Bangkok for teaching jobs. They are inquiring about payment methods for visa fees at the Thai embassy, specifically the acceptance of multiple postal orders due to the maximum limit, and whether they need to fulfill all documentation requirements listed under different sections for teachers versus general applicants.

Forget that nonsense and go to Japan.

You'll get paid double.

Then, vacation in Thailand.

If you think you'll be teaching next to a white-sand beach with coconut trees, forget it.

That's Disneyland.

The schools that are employing you should be handling this as they are required to provide and submit paperwork for you to be able to get visas and work permits.

. Talk to HR at the schools. Its their job..

. Dont leave home unless its all sorted. The international schools here normally take care of all this for you or at the very least guide you through it . They should also be paying the fees for visa and permit too normally.

Thanks Steven- it's all a bit of a headache but hopefully I get there in the end! 😂

. Visa and work.permit are two separate things. Work permit is processed in Thailand. Has nothing to do with embassy/consulate in UK. Its done by the Ministry of Labour here.

Cheers for the speedy response Steven- they've provided me with all the appropriate paperwork for the visa/WP once I'm over there- I just have to apply for the visa on my end!
