Hello everyone, does anyone know how I can live in Thailand legally for 1 year? I am Brazilian and I work remotely. I saw the possibility of a student visa, but in that case would I have to take classes in person? Is there any other way? Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To live in Thailand legally for one year as a Brazilian remote worker, you have several visa options. The DTV (Digital Nomad) visa permits remote work and is a popular choice. Alternatively, a student visa can be explored, although it may require in-person classes at a university. Tourist visas allow shorter stays, but can be extended. It’s recommended to research the specific requirements for each visa type, as well as consulting resources such as the Thai Embassy's website or the Expat Money Forum for guidance.

Start by reading the visa section of the Thai Embassy website in your country.

You can consider the tourist visa, which usually allows a stay of up to 60 days, with the possibility of an extension. Another option would be the non-immigrant visa, which offers more flexibility. Some student visas require in-person classes, but you can look for schools that offer courses with more flexible requirements. There's also the digital nomad visa, ideal for those working remotely, which could be a good option for you.

I recommend reaching out to Expat Money Forum, which can help you understand the best visa options and processes for living in Thailand legally.

For remote work you really only have the DTV option unless your wealthy enough and the company you work for qualifies you to get the LTR visa. You can't work on an ED visa which is for studying

half the people staying on Ed visas are working either online or in person ‘teaching’. 🤷🏻‍♀️

obviously. But it happens by the thousands.

You can always take classes at a University that are for English majors.

Does this apply to a student visa? Do you have any recommendations on what I can research? Thanks!

Yes. Universities will help u with the visa. U just need to know how many hours are required by immigration. The Uni will help you. I worked at VRU Uni in Pathumthani and know of students foreign who signed up. Try Humanities department and or Education English Majors. U have to go to the Uni foreign affairs department. Look up VRU in Pathumthani. It is on the border to Ayuthaya and near Rangsit. About 7000 baht per class.

Look up the DTV visa. It has a remote worker category.

I can't apply for this because I don't meet the requirement of showing $16,000 in the account. In this case, would there only be this one and the student one that I could apply for?
